This assertion will be supported by the following reasons:

Firstly, citizen activism has been responsible for raising awareness and generating public support for environmental issues. By organizing protests, rallies, and other public events, activists have been able to draw attention to the pressing need for environmental policy reforms. For instance, the global climate strike movement, initiated by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, has galvanized millions of students and citizens worldwide to demand urgent action against climate change. Such mass mobilization undoubtedly exerts pressure on governments to take environmental concerns seriously and implement necessary policy changes.

Secondly, citizen activism has been instrumental in holding policymakers accountable for their actions or inactions regarding the environment. Activists often use investigative journalism, social media campaigns, and other means to expose instances of corruption, negligence, or mismanagement in environmental matters.
