On one hand, proponents of urban green spaces argue that they contribute significantly to better air quality by acting as "lungs" for cities. Trees and plants in these areas absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and release oxygen (O2) through a process called photosynthesis. This helps reduce the overall concentration of CO2, which is one of the primary greenhouse gases responsible for global warming and air pollution. Moreover, urban green spaces also help filter out particulate matter (PM), such as dust and soot, which are harmful to human health.
