Firstly, pollution in freshwater ecosystems primarily originates from industrial waste, agricultural runoff, and urban sewage discharge. These sources introduce harmful substances such as chemicals, heavy metals, and nutrients into water bodies, leading to a decline in water quality. As a result, the natural balance of aquatic life is disrupted, with some species thriving while others struggle to survive. This imbalance can lead to the extinction of certain species and alter the overall biodiversity of the ecosystem.

Secondly, pollution in freshwater ecosystems negatively impacts aquatic life in several ways.
