Task 2 Writing Topic: Is society becoming more or less environmentally conscious?

Model Answer:
In recent years, it has become increasingly evident that the world is facing a range of environmental issues, such as climate change, deforestation, and pollution. As a result, many people are questioning whether or not society is becoming more environmentally conscious. In this essay, I will argue that society is indeed becoming more environmentally conscious, albeit at different rates in different parts of the world. This increased consciousness can be seen through several key factors:

Firstly, there has been a noticeable shift in public awareness and understanding of environmental issues. With the spread of information through various media channels, such as social media, television, and newspapers, people are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of their actions on the environment. This heightened awareness has led to an increase in recycling programs, use of reusable products, and a reduction in the consumption of non-renewable resources.

Secondly, governments around the world have started implementing policies and regulations aimed at protecting the environment. For example, many countries have introduced carbon taxes or emissions trading schemes, which encourage industries to reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally, governments are investing in renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, to decrease reliance on fossil fuels.

Lastly, businesses and organizations are also taking responsibility for their environmental impact. Many companies have adopted sustainable practices, such as reducing waste and using eco-friendly materials. Furthermore, a growing number of consumers are demanding products and services that are environmentally friendly, which in turn encourages businesses to adopt more sustainable practices.

However, it is important to note that the rate at which society is becoming environmentally conscious varies across the world. Developing countries may not have the resources or infrastructure to implement sustainable practices, while developed nations have the financial capacity and technological advancements to lead the way in environmental conservation efforts.

In conclusion, although there are disparities in the level of environmental consciousness among different societies, it is clear that overall, society is becoming more environmentally conscious. This change can be attributed to increased public awareness, governmental policies, and business practices. While there is still much work to be done, the trend towards a greener, more sustainable world is undeniable.
