Firstly, rapid industrialization and urbanization have played a significant role in the degradation of the environment. As developing nations seek to modernize and catch up with the industrialized world, they often prioritize economic growth over environmental conservation. This has led to unsustainable practices such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation for agricultural purposes, and the creation of non-biodegradable waste, all of which contribute to air and water pollution, loss of biodiversity, and climate change.

Secondly, consumption patterns in industrialized nations have a considerable impact on the environment. High levels of consumption, particularly of non-renewable resources, contribute significantly to environmental degradation. Furthermore, the waste generated from these high consumption rates often ends up in landfills or polluting ecosystems, exacerbating existing environmental problems.

Lastly, the lack of awareness and education regarding environmental conservation plays a significant role in perpetuating environmental problems.
