One major aspect of globalization's influence on local cultures is the erosion of cultural diversity. As countries become more interconnected, they are exposed to new ideas, languages, and ways of life. This exposure can lead to a loss of cultural identity, as people adapt to new customs or abandon their own traditions in favor of globalized practices. For example, the spread of English as a lingua franca has caused many non-English speaking countries to prioritize learning English over their indigenous languages, which may eventually lead to language extinction.

On the other hand, globalization has also contributed to the spread of internationalism, or a shared global culture.
