To begin with, the most apparent effect of pollution on freshwater ecosystems is the contamination of water sources. The dumping of industrial waste, agricultural runoff, and domestic sewage has resulted in a high concentration of harmful chemicals, nutrients, and pathogens in freshwater bodies. This not only endangers aquatic life but also poses a severe health risk to humans who rely on these ecosystems for drinking water, fishing, and agriculture.
