On one hand, proponents of the argument that technology reduces social inequality assert that it provides equal access to information and resources. The internet, for example, has democratized knowledge by making a wealth of information available at the click of a button. Furthermore, online platforms have created new opportunities for individuals from all walks of life to showcase their talents, learn new skills, and connect with potential employers. This accessibility has the potential to level the playing field and promote social mobility.

On the other hand, critics argue that technology is actually perpetuating social inequality. The digital divide – the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not – is a significant factor in this regard. Those with limited financial resources may lack access to high-speed internet or advanced devices, which are essential for participating fully in today's digital economy. As a result, the digital divide exacerbates existing socioeconomic disparities and leaves certain groups at a disadvantage.
