Moreover, global issues such as climate change, poverty, and social inequality have prompted collective action and compassionate responses, highlighting the importance of empathy in addressing these challenges.

On the other hand, however, certain societal trends may be eroding empathy. The rise of individualism and materialism has led to a focus on personal success and self-interest, which can undermine the development of empathy. Additionally, the polarization of political discourse and the increasing divisiveness in many societies have made it difficult for people to engage in meaningful conversations or find common ground, reducing opportunities for empathetic understanding.

In conclusion, while there are factors that suggest society is becoming more empathetic, other aspects of modern life may be contributing to a decline in this quality. The extent to which these trends impact empathy remains uncertain and requires continued examination.
