Some argue that this trend is a result of the increasing influence of social media, while others believe it is due to the growing divide between different socioeconomic groups.

On one hand, there are several factors contributing to the rise in political polarization. For instance, the advent of social media has allowed people to create "echo chambers," where they are exposed only to information and opinions that align with their own beliefs. This selective exposure can reinforce existing biases and make individuals more resistant to changing their views, leading to an increase in political polarization. Additionally, the rise of identity politics and the focus on group identities has further divided society along ideological lines.

On the other hand, there are several factors that suggest that society may not be becoming more politically polarized. For example, research has shown that people are generally more open to engaging with those who hold opposing views than previously thought.
