In the contemporary world, a diverse society with different cultures, religions, and ethnicities coexist. This essay will discuss two perspectives on whether schools should address issues of diversity and inclusion: one arguing that it is not an appropriate role for education systems and another suggesting that it is essential. After evaluating both views, I will present my own opinion.

The first viewpoint argues against the idea of incorporating diversity and inclusion in the school curriculum. Proponents of this view believe that schools should focus on teaching core subjects like math, science, literature, and history rather than dealing with controversial topics related to cultural diversity and societal issues. They argue that addressing these matters might lead to conflicts among students from different backgrounds, causing disharmony within the classroom environment. Additionally, they suggest that schools should not interfere in shaping students' opinions on sensitive topics but instead, leave this responsibility to parents or other community organizations.

On the contrary, the second viewpoint emphasizes the importance of addressing diversity and inclusion in educational institutions. Advocates for this perspective believe that by incorporating multiculturalism and fostering an inclusive environment, schools can create a harmonious society where all individuals are respected and valued. They argue that education is not only about acquiring knowledge in specific subjects but also learning how to live together respecting one another's differences. Furthermore, they suggest that promoting diversity and inclusion will help students develop critical thinking skills, empathy, tolerance, and open-mindedness, which are essential life skills for success in today’s globalized world.

In my opinion, I lean more towards the second viewpoint. While it is true that schools should prioritize teaching academic subjects, incorporating diversity and inclusion in their curriculum can also be beneficial. By educating students about different cultures, religions, and ethnicities, we foster mutual respect and understanding among them. This will not only help to create a harmonious learning environment but also prepare students for life in a diverse society where they need to interact with people from various backgrounds.

Moreover, teaching critical thinking skills, empathy, tolerance, and open-mindedness is equally important as learning subject-specific knowledge. These skills will equip students with the necessary tools to navigate through an increasingly multicultural world effectively. Thus, it becomes clear that addressing issues of diversity and inclusion should be an integral part of the school curriculum rather than a separate responsibility.

In conclusion, while both perspectives have valid points, I believe that schools should indeed address issues of diversity and inclusion. By doing so, they can create an inclusive learning environment where students learn not only subject-specific knowledge but also essential life skills necessary for thriving in today's diverse world.
