In this essay, I will argue that these norms significantly shape an individual's actions by creating expectations, providing guidelines for appropriate behavior, and influencing social conformity.

Firstly, social norms create expectations about what is acceptable or expected in specific situations. For instance, in many cultures, it is customary to greet others with a handshake or a bow. By adhering to these norms, individuals demonstrate respect and consideration for their peers. Failure to comply may result in disapproval from others or even ostracism.

Secondly, social norms provide guidelines on how to behave in various settings.
