Firstly, industrial agriculture practices such as monoculture and intensive farming contribute significantly to soil erosion. Monoculture, where a single crop is grown repeatedly in the same field, reduces the diversity of plants, which in turn decreases the stability of the soil structure. This makes the soil more susceptible to being washed away or blown off by wind, leading to soil degradation and loss of fertile land over time. Moreover, intensive farming practices such as ploughing and tilling disrupt the soil's natural structure, causing it to lose its ability to retain water and nutrients effectively.

Secondly, industrial agriculture leads to nutrient depletion in the soil due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers.
