The global financial crisis that began in 2008 led to a significant increase in unemployment rates and wage stagnation, particularly in developed countries. As a result, many individuals and families found themselves in dire financial situations, with no other option but to seek help from the government in the form of welfare programs, unemployment benefits, or housing assistance. Furthermore, the rise of gig economy workers and freelancers, who lack the security of traditional employment contracts, has also contributed to the growing reliance on government assistance.
