To begin with, CCS technology has the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from various sources, including power plants, industrial processes, and direct air capture. For instance, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global carbon dioxide emissions in 2019 were around 36.4 billion tons, with energy production contributing about 40% of this total. By investing in CCS technology, governments can reduce these emissions and slow down the rate of climate change.
