On one hand, industrial agriculture has led to higher crop yields, increased food production, and reduced reliance on traditional farming methods. By using advanced technology and techniques, such as genetically modified organisms (GMOs), pesticides, and fertilizers, farmers have been able to maximize the potential of their land. These advancements have contributed to a more significant portion of arable land being dedicated to food production, resulting in an overall increase in soil health due to better management practices. Additionally, the use of modern machinery has reduced soil compaction, promoting aeration and root growth.

On the other hand, industrial agriculture's intensive approach comes with several negative consequences for soil health. Monoculture practices, where a single crop is grown repeatedly on the same land, reduce biodiversity and deplete the soil of essential nutrients. This lack of crop rotation can lead to soil erosion, loss of organic matter, and reduced fertility.
