On one hand, a longer school day could provide students with additional opportunities to learn and engage in extracurricular activities. This extended time would allow for more comprehensive coverage of the curriculum, as well as additional time for students to explore their interests and develop their skills. Furthermore, a longer school day could potentially reduce the amount of homework that students receive, allowing them to have a better work-life balance and reducing stress levels.

On the other hand, there are concerns that a longer school day could lead to increased fatigue and burnout among both students and teachers. This could negatively impact the quality of education and hinder the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, a longer school year might exacerbate social and emotional issues for some students, as they may have limited time to spend with family and friends outside of school.
