As individuals are exposed to news and opinions that align with their pre-existing beliefs, they tend to become more entrenched in their viewpoints, thereby creating an "us versus them" mentality. Moreover, social media platforms have given rise to the phenomenon of cancel culture, where people are quickly ostracized for expressing views that deviate from the mainstream narrative. This has led to a polarization of opinions and a lack of tolerance for dissenting viewpoints.

Furthermore, globalization has contributed to the rise of nationalism and ethnocentrism. As nations become more interconnected economically and culturally, people are increasingly drawn to their own cultural identities and values. This sense of national pride can sometimes manifest as xenophobia and discrimination against those who are perceived as "outsiders." For instance, the rise of populist movements in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and France has been characterized by a strong anti-immigrant sentiment.
