They produce significantly less greenhouse gas emissions compared to burning coal, oil, or natural gas, thus contributing to mitigating the effects of climate change. On the other hand, fossil fuels have been the backbone of modern economies and industries, providing a reliable source of energy for over a century. They are also relatively more affordable than renewable energy, particularly in regions where infrastructure is not yet in place to support large-scale renewable energy production. This affordability factor can play a significant role in determining which energy sources governments choose to prioritize.
