The first argument in favour of increasing individualism is the rise of technology and social media. Furthermore, the emphasis on personal branding and self-promotion has led many to prioritise their own interests above those of the community. In addition, the decline of traditional institutions such as religion, family, and the workplace has left people seeking self-fulfilment through individual pursuits.

However, it is important to acknowledge that collectivist values continue to play a significant role in modern society. For instance, many communities still emphasise the importance of cooperation and mutual support, particularly in times of crisis or hardship. Moreover, there are numerous examples of people coming together to promote social justice, environmental causes, and human rights. This suggests that despite the apparent rise in individualism, collectivist ideals remain deeply ingrained in our societies.

In conclusion, while it is true that certain aspects of society have become more individualistic, we cannot dismiss the importance of collectivism. The persistence of community-based values and actions demonstrates that humanity still values cooperation and shared goals. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to assert that society is becoming less collective; rather, we must recognise the coexistence and interdependence of individualistic and collectivist tendencies.
