This increased accessibility has led to a growing awareness of societal issues and has prompted governments and corporations to pay more attention to the voices of the people. For example, social media campaigns against child labor have resulted in stricter regulations in some countries, demonstrating that public opinion can influence policy decisions.

However, there are also factors working against greater responsiveness to public opinion. Political polarization has made it difficult for governments and politicians to find common ground on contentious issues, leading to a stalemate where the will of the people is not effectively represented in decision-making processes.
