For example, local community groups on Facebook can help residents stay informed about neighborhood events, discuss local issues, and offer support in times of crisis. Moreover, social media has played a crucial role in raising awareness of important causes and organizing fundraising campaigns for those in need. In these ways, social media can contribute to greater cohesion within communities by promoting inclusiveness, collaboration, and mutual support.

However, there are also several reasons to argue that social media undermines community cohesion.
