The rapid deforestation occurring worldwide has significantly affected the rights of indigenous peoples. Indigenous communities often rely on forests for their livelihood, culture, and spiritual practices; thus, deforestation directly impacts their well-being and survival. In addition, the exploitation of forest resources by external forces has led to a loss of land and resources, which in turn infringes upon indigenous rights and self-determination.

One major consequence of deforestation on indigenous rights is the disruption of traditional ways of life. As forests are cleared for agricultural purposes, timber production, or infrastructure development, indigenous communities lose access to their ancestral lands and resources. This not only disrupts their means of sustenance but also erodes their cultural identity, as many indigenous groups have a deep spiritual connection with the land and nature.

Moreover, the exploitation of forest resources by external forces often violates the rights of indigenous peoples to self-determination and autonomy. Governments or corporations may grant logging concessions or mining permits without consulting or obtaining the consent of local communities, thereby infringing upon their rights to land and resource management. This not only undermines their ability to maintain a sustainable lifestyle but also exposes them to environmental degradation, pollution, and social displacement.
