The burning of fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, which contribute significantly to climate change. This can lead to more frequent and severe weather events, such as hurricanes, floods, and droughts. On the other hand, opponents of reducing reliance on fossil fuels argue that they are still necessary due to their affordability and availability.
