This essay will discuss both these views and provide an opinion on the matter.

On one hand, proponents of this viewpoint assert that art, in its many forms such as painting, literature, music, and film, has the unique ability to evoke emotions and provoke thought. By presenting alternative perspectives or challenging the norms, it can create a deeper understanding and empathy among different cultures. For instance, the novel "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe provides an insight into African culture that defies the colonial narrative and stereotypes, allowing readers to see beyond their preconceived notions.

Furthermore, art often has a long-lasting impact on society. It is capable of influencing generations to come, as it transcends time and geographical boundaries.
