The first reason for supporting a ban on single-use plastics is the immense environmental impact they have. According to recent estimates, approximately 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans every year. This poses a significant threat to marine life, as many species mistake these plastics for food and ingest them, which can lead to injury or even death.
