On one hand, social media has facilitated the global exchange of ideas and opinions, fostering a sense of community among users who may have otherwise never encountered one another. It has allowed individuals from different cultural backgrounds to share their perspectives, which can contribute to mutual understanding and tolerance. For example, the Black Lives Matter movement gained significant momentum through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, raising awareness about racial inequality and inspiring change.

However, it is important to acknowledge that social media has also contributed to the erosion of traditional social norms. The anonymity provided by online platforms can lead users to behave in ways they would not in face-to-face interactions.
