One of the most notable impacts of social media is its role in breaking down barriers and fostering global connections. Social media allows users to connect with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives, which can broaden their understanding of the world and challenge preconceived notions. For example, the Black Lives Matter movement, initiated on social media, has raised awareness about racial injustice and sparked global conversations about systemic racism. This demonstrates how social media can act as a powerful tool for promoting social change and challenging traditional norms.

On the downside, social media has also contributed to the rise of cyberbullying and online harassment.
