While some argue that society is becoming more responsive to public opinion due to advancements in communication technology and social media, others claim that this is not the case, as influential institutions continue to hold power over decision-making processes.

On one hand, it can be argued that modern society has become more responsive to public opinion due to the rise of social media platforms and the internet. These technologies have provided individuals with a platform to voice their opinions, share ideas and concerns, and mobilize support for causes they believe in. This increased connectivity has led to a greater awareness of various issues, and it has also given rise to grassroots movements that can challenge traditional power structures. For example, the Black Lives Matter movement, which began as a social media campaign, has managed to gain significant support from the public and has even influenced policy decisions in some jurisdictions.

However, it is important to consider the counterargument that society may not necessarily be becoming more responsive to public opinion. In many cases, influential institutions such as governments, corporations, and media outlets still hold a considerable amount of power over decision-making processes. These entities are often resistant to change, even in the face of widespread public sentiment.
