These conditions may force people to relocate to safer or more suitable environments, thereby altering migration patterns. A prime example of this phenomenon is the migration of residents from low-lying Pacific island nations due to rising sea levels caused by climate change.

Secondly, climate change can have an indirect impact on migration patterns through its effects on food production and resource availability. As changing weather patterns and temperatures affect agricultural yields, populations relying on these resources may be forced to seek alternative sources of sustenance in other regions. This could result in a shift in migration patterns as people move in search of better opportunities or escape resource scarcity.
