This sense of unity is particularly important in times of crisis, as it enables people to cooperate with one another and pool their resources for a common goal. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, countries that have high levels of social cohesion have been able to implement effective measures like lockdowns and vaccination campaigns more efficiently, ultimately saving lives and reducing economic damage.

Secondly, strong social cohesion promotes resilience in the face of adversity. In societies with a high degree of social cohesion, people are better equipped to bounce back from crises because they have established support networks and a shared sense of purpose. For example, in countries like Germany and South Korea, which have experienced significant economic crises in recent years, strong social cohesion has enabled the recovery process to be more swift and efficient.

Additionally, social cohesion is essential for preventing and managing conflicts during times of crisis.
