This essay will explore both perspectives, ultimately concluding that the degree to which society responds to public opinion is contingent on a multitude of factors.

On one hand, it can be argued that society's responsiveness to public opinion has increased in recent years. The rise of social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, has provided citizens with an unprecedented platform to voice their opinions, disseminate information, and mobilize around shared causes. Additionally, the democratization of information access through the internet has enabled people from diverse backgrounds to engage with political issues in a manner that was previously unimaginable. In turn, this heightened level of engagement has prompted governments, corporations, and other influential entities to pay closer attention to public sentiment.

However, it is equally important to recognize that society's responsiveness to public opinion is not a universal phenomenon.
