In this essay, both viewpoints will be analyzed and evaluated to provide a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

Firstly, it is essential to consider the advancements made in terms of social awareness and acceptance of different cultures and lifestyles. For example, the legalization of same-sex marriage in numerous countries, as well as the increasing number of multicultural events and festivals, demonstrate a growing recognition of diverse groups within society. Moreover, the rise of social media has facilitated the sharing of information and perspectives from different parts of the world, thereby fostering greater understanding and empathy towards diverse cultures and lifestyles.

On the other hand, the growing intolerance towards diversity can be attributed to several factors. Political polarization has led to an "us versus them" mentality in some societies, where certain groups are perceived as threats to the dominant culture or beliefs. This is evidenced by the rise of nationalistic movements and populist political parties that advocate for stricter immigration policies and discriminatory practices. Additionally, the resurgence of religious fundamentalism has also contributed to the decline in tolerance towards diversity, as seen in instances of discrimination against minority groups based on their faith or beliefs.

In conclusion, while there is evidence to support the notion that society is becoming more tolerant of diversity, it cannot be ignored that rising intolerance and discrimination are also prevalent.
