On the one hand, social media has been instrumental in promoting democratic values such as free speech and public debate. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have provided a space for individuals to voice their opinions, engage with others, and mobilize support for various causes. This increased political participation has been particularly evident in recent years, with the rise of social media campaigns, petitions, and online activism. For example, the Arab Spring and various Black Lives Matter movements have showcased the power of social media in sparking social change and raising awareness about pressing issues.

Moreover, social media has facilitated information dissemination, enabling citizens to stay informed about political developments and engage in more meaningful dialogue. The instantaneous nature of these platforms allows for real-time updates on current events, fostering a more knowledgeable electorate capable of making informed decisions during elections.
