On one hand, it can be argued that technology has exacerbated environmental problems. The widespread use of automobiles, for example, has led to an increase in air pollution due to the emission of greenhouse gases. Additionally, industrial processes and manufacturing require large amounts of energy, which often results in the release of pollutants into the atmosphere. Furthermore, technological advancements in agriculture, such as genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and pesticides, have contributed to the degradation of soil quality and the loss of biodiversity.

On the other hand, technology has also played a role in alleviating environmental problems. Renewable energy sources, like solar and wind power, have become more accessible and efficient, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Moreover, technological innovations in waste management, recycling, and water treatment have improved the overall quality of our environment.
