On one hand, it can be argued that governments have a responsibility to ensure that all citizens have access to affordable housing. Housing is a fundamental human need, and adequate shelter is essential for the health, safety, and well-being of individuals. When people are burdened by high housing costs, they may struggle to meet other basic needs such as food, education, and healthcare. Moreover, a lack of affordable housing can exacerbate social inequality and contribute to the marginalization of low-income groups in society.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that it is not the responsibility of governments to provide affordable housing for all citizens.
